Born Again

I was born May 6, 1924, in Poland and was baptized that same month in a Roman Catholic Church. Seventy years later, May 11, 1994, I was baptized by the local church in Baton Rouge—to which I had been introduced the previous year by a sister in the Lord.

In fellowship with the members of the local church in Baton Rouge and the local churches in other localities, and also through continuous prayer over verses in the New Testament, I came to realize that my whole previous experience was that to be a Christian is about trying to be a good and sensitive person. Now I learned that to be a Christian is really to know Him (Christ) and to be born again in spirit.

My six years in the local church in Baton Rouge have been the most fruitful years of my spiritual life in knowing and walking with Jesus Christ. When I look back over the path I took before meeting with the local church, I see that it was the power of God that preserved me and the Holy Spirit ministering the Word into my heart that brought me to Christ. I see also the mysterious ways the Lord worked in me. I also see how profoundly life-changing the transfer of my trust to the Lord Jesus Christ is. All I have to do is believe in the atoning work of Jesus Christ, to behold Christ and look away to Him in order to live the Christian life. I believe that I will be conformed to the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:29) (not by my fleshly effort but by the renewing of the Holy Spirit within me (Titus 3:5).

I am grateful to have been chosen to be grafted into the true vine (John 15:15). My desire is to have more of His fellowship and to have a stronger union with Him. In this union with Him is my freedom. My desire is to become a temple of the living God and make my temple a sanctified place for Him to dwell in (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Obedience and whole-hearted devotion to Him are just what I was made for. His love and grace to me are free and unlimited.

My life has been deeply changed by becoming a member among many in the glorious Body of Christ. As Romans 12:2-5 says: “And do not be fashioned according to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind that you many prove what the will of God is, that which is good and well-pleasing and perfect. For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think but to think so as to be sober-minded, as God has apportioned to each a measure of faith. For just as in one body we have many members, and all the members do not have the same function, so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” Praise the Lord!
